Talpa Studios is teaming up with Studio Lambert to develop its new in-house-developed psychological game-show format The Golden Elevators in the U.S. and the U.K.
The format was developed by the Talpa Studios creative team, led by Jasper Hoogendoorn as chief creative officer.
Talpa will co-produce the format with Studio Lambert in the U.S. and the U.K. The format will be produced out of Talpa Studios’ international production hub in Belgium.
Hoogendoorn commented, “This outstanding new format combines quiz and strategy elements with a gripping psychological layer and a strong, simple visual identity. Add our hub strategy and the reunion with Stephen and his team, and you’re truly aiming for the top. John, Stephen and I all believe in deceptively simple ideas that create genuine psychological depth and global appeal, and this powerful collaboration provides a strong platform to bring the format to the international market.”
Stephen Lambert, CEO of Studio Lambert, said, “The last time we collaborated with Jasper the result was the U.S. and U.K. versions of The Traitors, which have been spectacularly successful on both sides of the Atlantic. We think we have lightning in a bottle for the second time with The Golden Elevators, a show that combines the joy of a quiz with a psychological drama of trust and betrayal. We can’t wait to find the right home for it in America and Britain.”
Talpa Studios also announced an early renewal of The Winner Takes It All by SBS6 in the Netherlands, midway through season one. Sebastian van Barneveld, director of global distribution at Talpa Studios, noted, “This early recommission is a strong vote of confidence from SBS6. Growing ratings show audiences are embracing the format’s shared love of music, wrapped in a high-stakes, do-or-die gameshow structure. Combined with the smart reuse of an established talent database most platforms already have, this now proven format The Winner Takes It All has all the ingredients to travel internationally.”
