UGC and Xilam Animation are joining forces to adapt the novel Empire of the Ants into a TV series.
The novel by Bernard Werber has sold 7 million copies worldwide, including 4 million in France. The series adaptation, targeted at a family audience, will use live action for the scenes set in the human world and visual effects for the ant world. Vladimir Haulet is attached as writer, with the VFX direction being led by Nicolas Deveaux alongside Quentin Reubrecht. Marc du Pontavice and Caterina Gonnelli are producing for Xilam and Franck Calderon and Céline d’Asaro Biondo for UGC.
Werber commented, “This adaptation from such creative powerhouses as UGC and Xilam will bring a unique level of ambition to my universe. I look forward to audiences experiencing this work in a new form.”
