French lawmakers have passed new legislation banning social media accounts for kids under 15.
Australia has already implemented a social media ban for young audiences. The U.K. last month unveiled a new rule that would block social-media platforms from offering services to kids under 16. It is expected to be brought to Parliament before Christmas, with protections expected to come into force in the spring of next year.
The French legislation also includes a ban on cell phones in schools. It is unclear how the new rules will be implemented, and when. Per local reports, local regulator Arcom will enforce the implementation of the new laws.
Similar legislation is being considered in countries across Europe.
