Kate Phillips, Zai Bennett & Shelley Macintyre Set for MIPCOM Headliner

A keynote session at MIPCOM Cannes will bring together Kate Phillips, chief content officer at the BBC; Zai Bennett, CEO and chief creative officer of global content at BBC Studios; and Shelley Macintyre, CEO of brands and licensing at BBC Studios, to explore IP building.

The session, From Idea to Global IP: Building Brands That Last, will explore how the U.K. pubcaster and its commercial arm have elevated shows into global franchises, spotlighting Bluey, Doctor Who, Dancing with the Stars, BBC Earth, and more. The conversation will touch on all elements of an IP value chain, from development through international rollouts, licensing, brand extensions and building fandoms. The session is set for Tuesday, October 13, in the Grand Auditorium.

“The ability to create enduring global brands has become one of the defining challenges and opportunities for every part of our industry,” said Lucy Smith, director of MIPCOM Cannes and MIPJUNIOR. “Few organizations have achieved this more consistently than the BBC, whose portfolio spans some of the world’s most recognized and beloved entertainment franchises. Bringing together Kate, Zai, and Shelley offers MIPCOM audiences a unique opportunity to hear directly from the leaders shaping how world-class IP is created, expanded and sustained.”
