Globo’s Brazil Avenue is returning for a second season in 2027, fourteen years after its hit ratings in Brazil and sales to more than 140 countries.
Brazil Avenue 2 returns to the original series’ characters, revolving around Carminha, on a mission of redemption after a stint in prison, and the impact of her release on the Tufão family. The revival sees the return of the original creator and artistic director, Ricardo Waddington.
“Brazil Avenue 2 is a continuation and maintains the trademark that always defined the work: fast-paced plot, events in every episode, a story that never stops moving forward,” Waddington said. “This is one of its greatest strengths, now at the service of new conflicts. Carminha and Nina, alongside Tufão’s family, remain at the center, but in unprecedented dynamics sparked by the arrival of new characters in Divino.”
Adriana Esteves, Murilo Benício, and Débora Falabella are among those reprising their roles. Brazil Avenue 2 is an Estúdios Globo production, created and written by João Emanuel Carneiro, with collaboration from Marcia Prates, Eliane Garcia, Marta Rangel, Paula Amaral, and Vicent Villari.
The news comes on the heels of Portugal’s SIC confirming production on its own adaptation of the original telenovela.
