After exec-producing three original films for Lifetime, including Real Love, Mary J. Blige has clinched a new three-title movie deal with the network.
The artist previously exec-produced Real Love, Strength of a Woman, and Family Affair, all inspired by her music, for Lifetime. The first title under the new pact is Mary J. Blige Presents Be Happy. It is a collaboration between Blue Butterfly Productions, Blige’s production company, and Mona Scott-Young for Monami Productions.
Directed by Gabourey Sidibe and written by Cameron J. Ross, Mary J. Blige Presents Be Happy is set to star Tisha Campbell, Mekhi Phifer and Russell Hornsby. Produced in association with Motion Entertainment and Swirl Films, it premieres February 7.
