Netflix Slates New Expansion of Manga-Based Parasyte Universe

Netflix has boarded a new live-action series inspired by the Japanese manga series Parasyte following the success of 2024’s Parasyte: The Grey.

Parasyte: TAMIYA, arriving in 2027 and starring Shioli Kutsuna, sees Netflix again teaming with Yeon Sang-ho and other creatives behind Parasyte: The Grey.

Anime has entered the global franchise era, Parrot Analytics says, as live-action adaptations almost tripled their share of global audience demand from 2025.

The original manga, published by Kodansha, ran from 1988 to 1995 and has sold around 25 million copies across more than 20 countries and regions. It received several anime and film adaptations before the Korean take Parasyte: The Grey. Yeon Sang-ho developed Parasyte: TAMIYA and wrote the script in collaboration with Ryu Yong-jae. WOWPOINT was involved with development and production. The series is being directed by Kensaku Kakimoto and Kazuhiro Nakagawa.
