Paramount Global Content Distribution Scores The F Ward Sales

The Stan-commissioned medical drama The F Ward has notched up sales in 100 markets for Paramount Global Content Distribution.

Billed as the fastest-selling Australian drama ever, the six-part series is co-produced by Roadshow Rough Diamond and CBS Studios, with a cast that includes Anna Friel. It follows young medical interns at an underfunded hospital in Sydney.

Broadcasters and platforms on board include Channel 4, CBC in Canada, SkyShowtime, Claro video across LatAm, Streamz in Belgium, COSMOTE TV in Greece, RTE, JioHotstar, Sky NZ, HBO Asia, AMedia Networks and more.

“Medical dramas have universal appeal, and the show’s underdog story and rising young cast gave it a real breakout energy,” said Don McGregor, president of global content licensing at Paramount. “Buyers around the world moved quickly to secure The F Ward, making it the fastest prelaunch sale ever for an Australian drama, and that alone speaks to the strength of this production.”

“The audience response in Australia has been truly remarkable,” said Dan Edwards, co-creator and producer. “Anna Friel and this exceptional cast have captured the altruistic ambitions, humor and heart of so many within our health system, which has resonated far beyond our first hopes. We’re delighted to learn the show has found so many significant partners around the world so quickly. Global audiences can now experience Australia’s greatest social service through the lens of a group of smart, young, almost broken intern doctors and their unconventional mentors.”
