Filming is underway on The Detection Club, a ten-part drama from Kit Lambert and BBC Studios Drama Productions for the BBC and BritBox about a mystery-solving society formed by three celebrated crime writers: Agatha Christie, Dorothy L. Sayers, and G.K. Chesterton.
BBC Studios is handling global sales on the period drama, set in 1930s London. Filming across the West Midlands, it stars Miles Jupp as Chesterton, Bryony Hannah as Christie and Cara Theobold as Sayers. Based on an original idea by author Simon Brett, it follows the crime writers as they hone their craft in a secret London location and end up working together to solve a series of mysteries.
Lambert, writer and EP, said. “The Detection Club asks, ‘What if the creators of our greatest fictional detectives had the chance to solve murders themselves?’ It is a celebration of three wonderful writers of crime fiction, inspired by their work, their lives, and their friendship.
