Nelson Mandela Doc Secures Presales for BBC Studios

Ahead of its storied annual Showcase, BBC Studios has landed presales on Free Nelson Mandela (w.t.), a doc from Rogan Productions and GroupM Motion Entertainment for Channel 4.

Co-produced with DR, NRK, and ZWART, the doc has presold to Finland (Yle), France and Germany (ARTE), and Spain (Movistar Plus+).

The 50th edition of BBC Studios Showcase runs on February 23 and 24, kicking off a busy London TV Screenings and MIP London week. The U.K.’s biggest single studio content event will showcase BBS Studios’ lineup across scripted, unscripted, kids and family, and formats.

Highlights include Blue Planet III, a BBC Studios Natural History Unit Production for BBC and BBC AMERICA, co-produced with ZDF and France Télévisions; Tiger Island, co-produced by PBS and the WNET Group for BBC One and iPlayer and Lucy Worsley Investigates: The American Revolution on the unscripted front. Scripted highlights include Deadpoint, from Clerkenwell Films for Channel 4, House Productions and Fearless Minds’ Mint, Break Clause and The Reluctant Vampire, both with ZDFneo, and Agatha Christie’s Tommy & Tuppence from Lookout Point. On the factual-entertainment end, priorities include Daisy May and Charlie Cooper’s NightWatch, Ronan Keeting’s Wild Atlantic and Ed & Ryu: Mad About Seafood (4 x 50’). The format lineup includes Secret Genius, produced by Mothership Productions and WPP Media Motion Entertainment for Channel 4 and Just One Thing, plus scripted options with Lynley, Death Valley, and Reunion. On the kids’ side, BBC Studios is showcasing Zog from Magic Light Pictures.
