YouTube Hits 13.4% Viewing Share

YouTube hit a U.S. viewing share of 13.4% in Nielsen’s Media Distribution Gauge for April, a month driven by sports and drama series, led by HBO Max’s The Pitt with 4.5 billion viewed minutes.

April included the NCAA Basketball Tournament, the Masters golf tournament, and the start of the NBA Playoffs. Sports lifted cable’s share to 21.6% of TV viewership, with streaming well in front at 47.6%.

YouTube remains in the top ranking, adding 0.2 points to reach 13.4% of watch time. Prime Video rose to 4.2%, boosted by NBC games and The Boys. Tubi also had a strong April, with viewership rising 3% to a high of 2.3% of TV.

Broadcast, with a 19.9% share, was led by Tracker and Marshals on CBS, and High Potential on ABC.
