Massimo Righini has been tapped as creative development director for TV, formats, and unscripted at Rainbow Group’s live-action production outfit, Colorado Film.
As part of the team led by Gian Paolo Tagliavia, EVP of TV, digital, and talent, Righini will drive the development strategy and production of TV shows and new formats for digital platforms, particularly in unscripted content.
“We are living through a deeply transformative stage in the market, with growing opportunities for convergence across different platforms, and Massimo, with his experience in the entertainment landscape, will make a very important contribution to Colorado’s development by expanding and enhancing our content offering,” said Tagliavia.
Iginio Straffi, founder and chairman of Rainbow, who has set a diversification strategy for the company, added, “Massimo immediately impressed me with his passion, creativity, energy, and editorial expertise. His deep knowledge of the creative industry represents a significant asset for us as we move forward on this new path. Massimo Righini’s appointment confirms our commitment to continue investing in people who can support us through new creative challenges.”
Righini commented, “Joining Colorado Film means having the opportunity to develop new ideas within a group that has turned Italian creativity into an international asset. I thank Iginio Straffi and Gian Paolo Tagliavia for their trust and for the vision we share. My goal is to contribute to the growth of the group’s television and digital programming by developing original formats that combine editorial identity, popular appeal, and international potential. It’s a job that requires creative thinking, an understanding of the audience, and the ability to transform ideas into concrete production projects—experience that I bring to Colorado to share with the team, the writers, the talent, and our partners.”
Righini has extensive credits across the Italian content ecosystem, having worked with the likes of Mediaset, Magnolia, and Banijay, and working on projects for Rai, Discovery, and Sky.
