CBC Orders Six Kids Originals

CBC has given the greenlight to six kids’ originals, new and returning, across animation and live action, including a new preschool show from Boat Rocker Studios and Industrial Brothers.

“Preschoolers and school-aged children will be delighted by the iconic characters and stunning animation in these highly creative shows that will not only entertain but also spark curiosity in kids across Canada,” said Sally Catto, GM for entertainment, factual, and sports at CBC. “We are proud to continue to partner with Canadian producers to better serve young audiences and support the children’s content industry in this country.”

Cool Indigenous Stuff is a 13×6-minute series landing this fall from Kejic Media, blending animation and live action for kids 6 to 9. Coming from Boat Rocker Studios and Industrial Brothers, Hartford, a 2D preschool series consisting of  26 11-minute episodes, lands in 2027. Little Margo Stories is planned for next summer from Lightcatcher Media, building off a significant YouTube presence. Macy Murdoch is coming back for a third season from Shaftesbury. For 2028, the pubcaster has slated Olga, a series for kids 6 to 9 from Apartment 11 and Fabrique Fantastique, adapted from Elise Gravel’s bestselling graphic novel series. Stevie and the Sacred Animals comes from Eagle Vision and Sinking Ship Entertainment in association with APTN, Knowledge Network, and TELUS Independent, with that 52×11-minute series set for 2027.
