Ghost & Bone, a children’s novel created by Coolabi, written by Andrew Prentice and published by Delacorte Press, has been optioned for adaptation at Cheeky Little in Australia.
Cheeky Little will develop the IP as an immersive feature-length special and an ongoing TV series in partnership with Coolabi. Development is expected to begin early next year.
Patrick Egerton, chief content officer at Cheeky Little, stated,
“Themes of loss, grief and mortality combined with great characters and distinctly gallows humour make this a perfect offering for 8-plus year olds worldwide who want to be challenged with entertainment that feels high concept and aged-up.”
Michael Dee, SVP for television at Coolabi, added, “The world of Ghost & Bone straddles the real world and a fresh, richly imagined afterlife: worlds that our one-quarter-dead hero, Oscar Grimstone, learns he can pass between seamlessly. Ghost & Bone is full of unexpected twists and turns that propel the reader through the story. We couldn’t think of a better studio partner to bring this dark comedy—and its ghostly cast—to life.”
