The K-pop-inspired tween dramedy series Gangnam Project has notched up a slew of deals for Federation Kids & Family.
Season one has launched on Netflix in multiple territories. Globo is also on board for season one. The second season, meanwhile, has been licensed to Super RTL (for Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Liechtenstein), ABC (Australia) and NRK (Norway). Federation licensed both seasons to Dreamia (Portugal), RTS (Switzerland), and EITB (Spain).
The show, commissioned by CBC Kids and CBBC, was previously sold to France TV, Yle, Radio-Canada, and TFO for both seasons. It is produced by Pillango Productions and Aircraft Pictures, with financial participation of Shaw Rocket Fund and the Canada Media Fund.
Monica Levy, co-chief of distribution at Federation Kids & Family, said: “As the K-pop fever continues to spread worldwide, we are thrilled to have this gem of a series to offer our buyers, especially as demand continues to grow. It’s also great to see broadcasters snapping up a second season so soon after a first season.”
