Netflix Expands Kids & Preschool Lineup with Sesame Street, Gabby & More

Netflix has renewed its deal with Sesame Workshop for Sesame Street and is developing a feature film for the beloved educational brand, along with revealing several other additions to its children’s content lineup, including a new show from Boat Rocker Studios and a Gabby’s Dollhouse spinoff.

Netflix says that kids and family represented 15% of its total viewing hours in the first half. The genre has delivered 106 billion viewing hours since the beginning of 2023.

“We’re curating a slate of favorite-worthy series, films, and games to serve kids at every age and stage of their development,” said Heather Tilert, VP for animation series, kids and preschool at the streamer. “Whether that’s spending more time with Gabby and her adorable sister Doozie, meeting the crew of Puppy Pirates for the first time, or growing up alongside more Sesame Street, we’re building a place parents can feel good about. A place filled with great stories, beloved characters, and enriching games kids will want to come back to again and again.”

Netflix is in development on a Sesame Street film with Rideback and Sesame Workshop. It has also extended its deal for the series, delivering new seasons of the show through season 62. Season 57 volume 4 arrives November 23, and volumes 5 and 6 come in 2027. The new episodes of Sesame Street will air day-and-date in the U.S. on PBS stations and stream on PBS KIDS digital platforms. The platform has also acquired Mecha Builders for launch next month.

Gabby’s Dollhouse has a new companion series, Doozie’s Doghouse, launching in November, while December sees the arrival of Gabby’s Dollhouse: Makers and Bakers, a competition series from DreamWorks Animation and B17 Entertainment, with four episodes this year and another six in 2027. Across 13 seasons, Gabby’s Dollhouse has accumulated more than 670 million views since 2024. Season 14 recently debuted in the top ten.

New to the platform is Puppy Pirates from creator Matthew Fernandes and Boat Rocker Studios. Bad Dinosaurs, from creators Joel Veitch, Alex Mallinson, and David Shute, has been renewed for seasons two and three, with eight episodes each.

The platform has also expanded the gaming lineup at Netflix Playground; launched a low-stimulation collection for shows and movies with slower pacing, softer visuals, and simple, predictable stories for little kids. There are also two new Netflix playlists for kids and families, one for preschoolers and the other for kids 5 to 8, and a new episode of the award-winning podcast Bedtime Stories with Netflix.
