CANAL+ has signed a deal committing €980 million to French and European films for five years, beginning in 2028.
The deal was signed with BLIC (representing the film production and distribution guilds in France), the first signatories among BLOC members (the SRF, the SPI, the UPC, DIRE, the SDI and Animfrance) and the directors and producers guild ARP. It applies to CANAL+ and CINÉ+ OCS.
CANAL+ called the new agreement “unprecedented” given its scale and duration and inclusion of safeguards to ensure the diversity of European cinema, supporting new creatives and styles, animation and titles with broad audience appeal. Films will be made available to CANAL+ subscribers six months after their theatrical release.
