The World Cup final between Spain and Argentina is officially the most-watched soccer broadcast in U.S. history, drawing 38.9 million viewers on FOX Sports.
Coverage peaked at 51.7 million viewers for the final. Across the entire tournament, two matches topped 30 million viewers, five topped 20 million, and 11 were seen by 15 million.
The ratings for the final were up by 132% from 2022 and 240% on 2018. This was the most-watched FIFA World Cup in U.S. history, averaging 7.7 million viewers over the 104 matches for FOX Sports. Telemundo was the Spanish-language broadcaster of the tournament.
The bronze game the day before the final, between France and England, landed 13.1 million viewers, becoming the most-watched FIFA Men’s World Cup third-place telecast in U.S. history.
Consumption also surged on FOX Sports digital and social platforms, with coverage generating more than 17.2 billion content views and 16.5 billion social impressions.
FOX Sports’ first-ever “Always On” live stream, available exclusively on the FOX Sports YouTube channel, TikTok, Tubi, FOXSports.com and the FOX Sports App generated 1.2 billion total minutes of watch time across platforms.
