Asian Academy Creative Awards Adds Microdrama Category

This year’s edition of the Asian Academy Creative Awards will feature a brand-new best microdrama category, presented with the backing of RisingJoy.

Presented at the AACA Grand Awards Gala Ceremony on December 3 at the Capitol Theatre Singapore, this will be the event’s 39th category. It is directly supported and presented by RisingJoy, a content licensing company specializing in vertical video and digital content. RisingJoy will also host the microdrama panel at the National Winners Conference 2026 (NWC26) on December 2.

The news was revealed at the Asian Academy’s Bangkok Networking and Industry Roundtable Event.

Fiona McKay, CEO of the Asian Academy of Creative Arts, commented, “Over the past three years we have kept a close watch on the surge in micro drama across multiple markets. What began as an experimental digital format is now evolving into a sophisticated storytelling medium, and we believe it is time to recognize excellence in the space.”

Cassandra Yang, co-founder and CEO of RisingJoy, added, “Microdrama has become one of the fastest-growing forms of digital entertainment globally. We are delighted to support the Asian Academy Creative Awards in recognizing the creators driving innovation in this new storytelling format.”
