Karrot Entertainment Boards Guru’s Where’s Spot? Adaptation

Guru Studio has inked a co-production deal with U.K.-based Karrot Entertainment for a preschool animated series based on Eric Hill’s Spot book series.

The character, a rambunctious puppy, first appeared in Hill’s 1980 book Where’s Spot? Since then, more than 65 million books have sold, translated into more than 60 languages and published in more than 20 formats, including lift-the-flap, board and novelty. Publisher Puffin releases new Spot titles each year. The U.K., U.S. and Australia have all seen increased interest in the publishing IP.

Karrot is known for its work on Peppa Pig, Sarah & Duck, and My Friend Maisy.

“Spot has deep roots in the U.K., and we really couldn’t imagine a better partner than Karrot to bring this classic to a new generation,” said Frank Falcone, president and executive creative director of Guru Studio. “We’re excited to combine our studios’ expertise as stewards for beloved characters and brands to create something really special with Spot.”

“So many artists at our studio grew up adoring Spot, and we’re delighted to be working with the fantastic team at Guru to help bring Spot’s boundless energy and curiosity to screens around the world,” said Jamie Badminton, Karrot’s co-Founder and senior producer.
