2030 World Cup Rights in Spain Nabbed by Netflix

Netflix has secured the exclusive rights to FIFA World Cup 2030 for Spain and Andorra, with a package of games set to air on a national FTA broadcaster.

The 100th anniversary of the tournament will see Spain looking to defend its title as it serves as host country alongside Morocco and Portugal. Centenary celebration matches will also take place in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.

Netflix will bring to its subscribers all 104 matches live, alongside pre-game, half-time and post-game shows and a daily round-up, plus other shoulder programming. One match per matchday will be available for free in Spain. A package of matches, including every Spain match, both semi-finals and the final, will be made available on a national free-to-air broadcaster. Details on that partnership will be revealed at a later date.

Netflix has the broadcast rights to the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 and 2031 in the U.S. and Canada as it leans into premium sports coverage.

“Few events unite people like the World Cup,” said Bela Bajaria, chief content officer at Netflix. “I was in the stands this year as Spain lifted the trophy and witnessed the passion, the pride, the stories—they all become part of a nation’s culture and are remembered for generations. With Spain set to host in 2030, we’re thrilled to bring every match to fans across Spain and Andorra on Netflix. For Spanish football fans, welcoming the world as reigning champions on Netflix will make this a moment unlike any other. And our expanding partnership with FIFA, including the Women’s World Cup in 2027 and 2031 for the U.S. and Canada, reflects our continued commitment to bringing fans closer to the world’s biggest sports moments.”

“Our shared ambition is to bring fans closer to the game and enable as many people as possible to share in the excitement of the competition,” said Mattias Grafström, FIFA Secretary General.

Other top-tier sports on Netflix include NFL games and events, MLB, and WWE.
