Aardman Enlists CAA Brand Management for Asian L&M Expansion

Aardman has appointed CAA Brand Management to manage its brand licensing, partnerships, live experiences, and promotional campaigns in Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

The acclaimed studio is looking to build on the awareness of Shaun the Sheep and Wallace & Gromit in Eastern Asia with the deal with CAA’s L&M division, which kicked off April 1.

CAA Brand Management will oversee Aardman’s entire brand licensing business in the selected markets, operating across consumer products, digital, and live events.

Alison Taylor, director of licensing and distribution at Aardman, said: “Our brands already have a strong and loyal following in Japan and China; however, this collaboration allows us to build on that momentum with a focused and local expertise. Together, we see a significant opportunity to unlock new categories and partnerships, to help deepen consumer engagement and support sustainable, long-term growth across Asia.”

Romel Maranon, VP for brand management, Asia, at CAA Brand Management, added, “We look forward to leveraging our regional expertise and global network to help Aardman reach new audiences and create meaningful connections with fans. Together, we’re committed to delivering innovative brand experiences and driving long-term growth for Shaun the Sheep, Wallace & Gromit, and the entire Aardman portfolio throughout these dynamic markets.”

CAA Brand Management will work with senior managers from Aardman’s brand and licensing team, reporting to Taylor. The studio previously worked with Tohokushinsha Film Corporation (TFC) in Japan and U-Young in China for its licensing efforts in those markets.
