Fear Factor Returns to Finland

After a 17-year hiatus, the Fear Factor brand is returning to Finland as Banijay Entertainment lands the first international remake for Fear Factor: House of Fear.

Banijay Finland is reimagining the long-running reality competition for Ruutu and Nelonen. Pelkokerroin was first aired in 2009. With the new deal, the brand returns to Finland with a take inspired by FOX’s Fear Factor: House of Fear from Endemol Shine North America.

Tatu Ferchen, CEO of Banijay Finland, said, “After 17 years, Pelkokerroin is back in a way that feels nostalgic, while completely new. Introducing a stronger social and psychological dimension inspired by the U.S. version, we are elevating the stakes and competition, making it highly unpredictable and immersive, and ultimately, more relevant for today’s audiences.”

Lucas Green, chief content officer, operations, at Banijay Entertainment, added, “Fear Factor has always been about pushing boundaries, and its latest evolution proves it remains as compelling as ever. The success of the U.S. version, alongside reboots in markets like Denmark, highlights how strategic reality continues to resonate when paired with spectacular challenges and social gameplay. By amplifying the emotional and psychological stakes, Fear Factor: House of Fear is bound to make a compelling return to Finland.”

Fear Factor has been adapted in 32 territories to date.
